Tenori-On US Presale On

Sat, 26 Apr 2008 12:59:56 PDT
As the May 1 sale date approaches, US distributor Keyfax is taking pre-orders of the Yamaha Tenori-On. The only way to order it will be (oddly) via the Tenori-On tour site: http://tenori-on.keyfax.com/ Keyfax explains: So that everyone has an equal purchasing opportunity, pre-sale orders are being taken via Tenori-on Registration on a first-come first-served basis. As shipments arrive, KEYFAX NewMedia will personally contact those registered; your order will be processed, and your unit sh

New kind of beetle found! By CBC staff!

Fri, 25 Apr 2008 02:21:19 PDT
New kind of beetle found! By CBC staff! Staff on the state-owned CBC Newsworld, where, suspiciously like Fox News Channel’s O’Reilly Factor, “The Spin Stops Here”! (-- or is that just on their “Politics” program?) apparently discovered the new creature. They called it the “GREENHOUSE BEETLE”. Most other people, like the folks at the National Post, which features the little bugger on their front page today, call it the Mountain Pine Beetle. Labcoats call it Dendroctonus Ponderosae. Bu

Trading Gerald

Sat, 26 Apr 2008 16:52:42 PDT
Saw an interesting link tonight which was a summary of stories about the possibility of Gerald Laird finally being dealt, now that Saltamacchia is back, and by all accounts will a) not be playing first, and b) is not going back to AAA. Laird's been doing fairly decently this year, and could bring something back, but it seems a bit early in the season to push that button. I suspect he'll be dealt eventually, but my gut feeling is not this early. I didn't expect to see that happen until June so

Here is an informative site about medical tourism. More and more people are finding that going to a foreign country for cosmetic surgery, dental work, and so on is a practical and viable solution. Save thousands of dollars on medical treatments and vacation in a great location at the same time. Really worth checking into.

Border agents to use paintball guns to fend off attackers

Sat, 26 Apr 2008 13:14:46 PDT
Some surprising news came from the US Border Patrol. The Patrol has purchased 1,000 guns that fire non-lethal paintball or pepper pellets. The goal of a target practice session was to hit the white rag at the end of a hall with paintballs. Border Patrol agents may soon use paintballs to defend themselves against smugglers along the border...

Will Jets make draft-day move to get BC's Ryan?

Sat, 26 Apr 2008 11:06:10 PDT
By doling out $140 million in free-agent contracts this offseason, the New York Jets have behaved like a team in a win-now mode. But if Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan is available in Saturday's draft, they're prepared to call an audible and look toward the future the New York Daily News reported.

News from Jerusalem - Stop Playing with Puppets

Sat, 26 Apr 2008 15:14:56 PDT
We are all familiar with PA President Mahmoud Abbas' game. There was no need for more evidence that he is far from the "moderate" that the West has dubbed him. Arafat's loyal apprentice would be a more apt epithet though Abbas has even surpassed his mentor:

Crisis in News::Are Veteran Media Execs the Ones Who'll See the Future?

Sat, 26 Apr 2008 16:55:13 PDT
BERKELEY — We are midway through the first day at the conference, “Crisis in News: Is There a Future for Investigative Reporting?” One thing that struck me here is that we have some serious bigwigs and executives at major media companies, like the New York Times, Washington Post, NPR, CBS and of course PBS. Are these the people who will really see the future of what will happen in investigative journalism? Maybe Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google, who is also here, would know more. Or someone who is

Cuban citizens snapping up cell phones

Sat, 26 Apr 2008 07:22:34 PDT
Section: News, Communications, Cellphones, Mobile Since cell phones were first made available, and legal, Cuban citizens have been furiously purchasing new cell phones. Its been just about ten days now and Cuba’s telephone company is reporting that they have sold 7,400 new cell phones, about 740 per day. While I can expect a lot of people to be wanting to run out and make the purchase, its does surprise me that it was such a high number considering the phone contract costs around $120, w
